School Bus Rental Toronto: Safe, Licensed Transport for Field Trips

StarTrans 48-seat school bus rental parked outside a Toronto school

Planning transport for a class of thirty energetic students is a different job from booking a coach for adults. The bus has to be the right size, the driver has to know how to handle a group of kids, and every parent who signed the permission slip expects their child back safe and on time. That is the standard a Toronto school bus rental has to meet, and it is the standard we hold ourselves to at StarTrans.

What a school bus rental in Toronto actually includes

Our school buses seat 44 to 48 passengers, which covers most single classes plus their teachers and chaperones. Every rental comes with a professional driver. We do not offer self-drive options for any vehicle, and for student transport that matters more than ever, because the person behind the wheel has already passed a criminal background check and completed defensive driving and passenger safety training before their first trip.

The buses carry the safety equipment Ontario requires for student transport: emergency exits, stop arms, and flashing lights. After every trip the vehicle is fully disinfected, so the bus that picks up your students in the morning is clean, not carrying yesterday's germs.

Field trips, daily routes, and everything between

Schools across the GTA use us for a range of trips:

  • Field trips to the Royal Ontario Museum, the Ontario Science Centre, the AGO, or the Toronto Zoo.
  • Out-of-town day trips to Niagara Falls, African Lion Safari, or a sugar bush in the spring.
  • Sports and competition travel for teams heading to tournaments around Ontario.
  • Daily or recurring routes for schools that need a steady arrangement rather than a one-off booking.

If your group is smaller than a full class, a 14-passenger Sprinter van is often the more sensible choice and costs less than a full-size bus.

How far ahead should you book?

For a regular field trip, two to four weeks of notice is usually enough. The pressure point is the spring season. From April through June, every school in the city is booking buses for the same handful of weeks, so if your trip falls in that window, reach out six to eight weeks ahead to lock in your date and your preferred vehicle.

What it costs and how to get a quote

School bus pricing depends on the distance, the trip duration, and whether the driver waits on site or returns later for pickup. We quote each trip individually so you are not paying for time or kilometres you do not use, and there are no surprise fuel surcharges added afterward. Tell us the date, the number of students, and your pickup and drop-off points, and we will send pricing back promptly.

Areas we cover

StarTrans serves Toronto, Scarborough, Mississauga, Brampton, Markham, Vaughan, Ajax, Pickering, Oshawa, and Hamilton, along with destinations across Ontario. Wherever your school is in the GTA, we can get your group there.

Frequently asked questions

Are your school buses safe for young children?

Yes. Our buses carry all mandatory safety features, every driver passes a criminal background check and completes student safety training, and each vehicle is disinfected after every trip.

Is a driver included in the price?

Always. Every StarTrans vehicle comes with a professional, commercially licensed driver. We do not rent buses without one.

Can we book a smaller vehicle for a small group?

Absolutely. For groups under 14, our Mercedes Sprinter van is a comfortable, lower-cost alternative to a full school bus.
